Affordable & Accessible Childcare
The current way we do childcare in our district is not working. Parents pay high costs to put their child in a care facility while the childcare professionals are paid way below what they deserve. A study by the U.S. and Michigan Chambers of Commerce and the Early Childhood Investment Corporation shows that Michigan is losing out on $2.8 billion in economic growth due to the shortage of reliable childcare.
Invest more dollars directly into existing childcare facilities in Lansing and Delhi Township to address low staff wages, high turnover and infrastructure upgrades.
Support local entrepreneurs by cutting red tape and streamlining the bureaucratic processes to help them start their own childcare facilities in order to ensure families have multiple options when considering where to send their children.
Partner with local community organizations and local businesses to expand eligibility and enrollment into the Michigan Tri-Share system.
